O God of Life and Love,
who has loved Your children into life,
we bring to You all the darkness and the doubt,
the fear, uncertainty, and despondency by which our souls
are brought into the bitterness of mental and spiritual death.
Teach us to know that “perfect love casts out fear.”
By the assurance of Your loving care,
heal us to overcome depression
and to rise above the mists of faithfulness.
Out of the deep and dreary places
into which our souls may sink,
Lift us up by Your Mighty Hand.
In those silent and lonely places
Where no human voice may reach us,
O God,
speak Thy word of comfort and of cheer;
so that upheld by Your Power,
and strengthened by Your Love,
we may receive Your abiding gift of Peace,
through Him by whom you give
the fullness of life and Joy,
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
