Got questions about GoHealth? This page answers the ones people ask most – what we believe, how we work, and how you can get involved, whether through membership, training, or your local church becoming a Healthy Healing Hub.
What is GoHealth?
GoHealth (also called the Guild of Health and St Raphael) is a Christian charity helping people, churches and communities discover what it means to live, heal and flourish in the light of God’s love. We bring together faith, science, healthcare and community to equip people to participate in God’s healing work in the world.
What is the vision behind GoHealth?
Our vision is to see and be flourishing communities made up of flourishing individuals. We believe God desires abundant life for all people, and that the Church has a unique role in nurturing health, hope, connection and wellbeing in partnership with others. Learn more >
What do you mean by “healing”?
Healing is more than the absence of illness. It is the restoration of wholeness in our relationships with God, ourselves, others and creation. Healing can include physical recovery, but it also involves peace, meaning, reconciliation, hope and spiritual growth whatever circumstances we face. Learn more >
What do you mean by “holistic health”?
Holistic health recognises that our physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing are deeply interconnected. We are whole people, not separate parts. Caring for health therefore involves attending to every dimension of life and the relationships that sustain us.
What makes GoHealth distinctive?
GoHealth combines a deep commitment to Christian faith with a serious engagement with science, healthcare and lived experience. We actively build connections between churches, healthcare professionals and communities, helping people explore healing and flourishing in practical and evidence-informed ways. Our values are to be compassionate, inspiring and empowering – they weave through everything we do.
Do the GoHealth team live by these values themselves?
Absolutely. GoHealth is not simply something we do; it is something we are seeking to live. We are committed to growing in health, healing and flourishing in our own lives, relationships and communities. Like everyone else, we face challenges, setbacks and questions along the way. That is why we approach this work as fellow travellers rather than distant experts. We believe God invites all of us into a lifelong journey of healing and wholeness, and we are privileged to walk that journey alongside the people, churches and organisations we serve.
How do faith and science work together in GoHealth?
We see faith and science as complementary rather than competing. Science helps us understand how people and communities flourish, while faith helps us understand why we matter and how we are called to live. We believe both can contribute to a richer understanding of health and healing.
Do you believe in divine healing and miracles?
Yes. We believe God continues to heal today and that miracles can happen. At the same time, we recognise that God’s healing work is often experienced through relationships, prayer, medicine, community, personal growth and unexpected moments of grace.
What role does prayer play in your approach to healing?
Prayer is central to our understanding of healing. We believe prayer opens us to God’s presence, wisdom, comfort and transforming love. While we cannot predict how God will answer, we trust that prayer always matters and can bring healing in many different ways.
How do you support people who have prayed for healing but remain unwell?
We recognise that this can be painful and deeply challenging. We do not believe illness is a sign of weak faith or that unanswered prayers mean God has abandoned someone. We seek to walk alongside people with honesty, compassion and hope, helping them discover God’s presence and healing even in the midst of ongoing illness.
How does GoHealth approach mental health and wellbeing?
We take mental health seriously and recognise it as an essential part of overall wellbeing. We encourage approaches that integrate spiritual care, healthy relationships, professional support, self-care and evidence-based practice, recognising that healing often involves multiple pathways.
What training and courses do you offer?
We offer a range of online training courses covering topics such as health and healing theology, chaplaincy, pastoral care, burnout, trauma, community wellbeing, Healthy Healing Hubs and the relationship between faith and science.
Who are your courses designed for?
Our courses are designed for anyone interested in health, healing and flourishing. Participants include church members, clergy, chaplains, healthcare professionals, community leaders and those exploring these themes for personal growth.
How does GoHealth work with church leaders?
We believe healthy churches are nurtured by healthy leaders. We work alongside clergy, chaplains and ministry leaders to support their own wellbeing, resilience and flourishing, recognising the pressures and opportunities of leadership. At the same time, we equip leaders with practical tools, theological resources and evidence-informed approaches that help them cultivate healing, health and flourishing within their congregations and communities.
How does GoHealth work with organisations?
We partner with churches, charities, healthcare providers, workplaces and other organisations that share a commitment to human wellbeing. Drawing on insights from faith, science and lived experience, we help organisations develop cultures that support connection, resilience, purpose and flourishing. Our support may include consultancy, training, speaking, research collaboration and the development of wellbeing initiatives tailored to each context.

Many of our courses and events are available online, making them accessible wherever you are. We also offer selected in-person events, workshops and gatherings throughout the year.

Healthy Healing Hubs and Supporting Churches

Why do Healthy Healing Hubs matter?
Many people are searching for connection, hope and meaning. Healthy Healing Hubs offer places where people can belong, be supported and grow. They help churches become visible signs of God’s healing presence within their communities.
How can our church become a Healthy Healing Hub?

We offer training, consultancy, resources, coaching, networking opportunities and practical tools. Our aim is to help churches build confidence and develop sustainable ministries that support health, healing and flourishing.
