Summer brings a slowing. Even if our lives remain busy, the longer light, warmth, and space in the calendar can offer something rare: a chance to breathe. To rest. To reflect. And perhaps most importantly — to listen.

As I take my own moments of quiet this summer, I find myself asking some big questions. Questions that perhaps you, too, carry in your soul:

  • What in me still needs to heal?
  • What pain have I been carrying for too long?
  • Where is God leading me now?
  • And how might I become a healing presence — for others, and for the world?

These aren’t easy questions. But they are holy ones. They arise not just from personal longing, but from the world around us. We are living in a time of collective suffering — socially, spiritually, environmentally, and physically. And I believe that God is calling us to respond not with despair or numbness (which is the easy option), but with courage, care, and a renewed sense of mission.

The World’s Pain and the Church’s Call

At GoHealth, we talk often about holistic healing — recognising that ill health is not limited to broken bones or medical diagnoses. It’s the aching loneliness of a fragmented community. It’s the long shadow of trauma. It’s the sharp edge of poverty or racism or inequality that cuts away at people’s dignity and potential.

The COVID-19 pandemic laid this bare for many of us. But even as its intensity has faded, the deeper fractures it exposed remain: communities disconnected, mental health under strain, and systems of care stretched beyond their limits.

In this context, the Church has a profound opportunity. Not to fix everything — but to become a place where healing can happen. A space where people are seen, heard, and restored. Where prayer is powerful, community is compassionate, and Christ’s call to heal the sick and bind up the brokenhearted is taken seriously.

But here’s the truth: we can’t bring that kind of healing into the world if we don’t also tend to the healing we need ourselves.

Healing Starts Within

That’s why The Invitation to Heal, a resource created by Michael Harvey and available freely to The GoHealth Community, is so powerful. It’s more than a book or a course. It’s a gentle, probing invitation to step back and reflect honestly with God: What is hurting in me? What has been lost? What is God asking me to carry forward — and what to lay down?

The resource gives us space to explore the intersection of our inner world and our outer calling — to understand that mission and healing are not separate things. As Michael writes, stepping out in mission often leads us to unexpected places of healing — not only for others, but for ourselves.

This is especially true for those of us in leadership — ministers, carers, chaplains, community organisers — those who spend our lives tending to others. We need this space too. We need to be reminded that healing is not weakness. That rest is not failure. That tending our own souls makes us more able, not less, to serve the world God so loves.

Discernment for the Healing Journey

This summer, I invite you to join me in a prayerful pause.

Take 10 minutes in the morning sun. Or a walk without your phone. Or a moment before sleep. And ask:

  • Where is God already at work in my life — whispering healing into my tiredness, or hope into my fear?
  • Who around me might need a gentle invitation — not to perfection, but to possibility?
  • And how can I, just as I am, help create a world where healing is more than a metaphor — but a movement?

At GoHealth, we are creating space for these questions. Through online courses, prayers, writing, and community, we’re walking together with people who long to live lives of meaning and hope in a wounded world. You don’t have to be an expert. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to ask the questions — and to take the first step.

Join the Movement

Whether you begin with a quiet moment, a shared prayer, or by exploring The Invitation to Heal, you are welcome here.

This summer, may you find the courage to ask the hard questions, the space to rest, and the grace to be led into deeper healing — for yourself, and for the world.
