Not only does the world inspire us, it helps us deal with our pain as well…somehow the beauty of the natural world absorbs our suffering.
Dr Ruth Valerio
Our earth is in crisis, but what does it matter to humanity? In what ways do we need do we need the natural world to thrive? What structures prevent this from happening? How does the covid-19 pandemic speak to these issues, and what is the role of the church in healing and rebuilding the world in its wake?  And what can we do about any of this?
The course is based on our Denis Duncan Lecture ‘Losing connection: does the natural world matter for the future health of humanity?’, given by Dr. Ruth Valerio. It explores some of the links between our healing and the whole of God’s creation, touching on issues of global justice, Nature Deficit Disorder and Original Trauma and creates space for learners to reflect on their own experience in light of all of this.
Ultimately, the course asks these questions:
- How does our planet impact our health?
- How do we impact the planet’s health?
- What must change to ensure a mutual thriving?
This course is online and self-led, meaning you can go through all of the content at your own pace. It is free to GoHealth community members or available to anyone making a one-time purchase for £15.Â
