The Revd Sue Hammersley
The Revd Sue Hammersley is the Executive Director of Holy Rood House, in Thirsk. Sue studied Philosophy and Theology at Nottingham University and worked in the voluntary sector before giving in to the persistent call to train for ordination. After a bumpy ride she was ordained deacon in 2007. Lying on the floor of Sheffield Cathedral, with the other ordinands, she had a strong sense that it was not her gifts which were to be of greatest use but her ability to get out of the way and let others shine. Following her curacy Sue joined the team at St Mark’s, Broomhill, Sheffield. Moving to Holy Rood House has given Sue and Sibylle the opportunity to minister together. This is part of what healing can look like – being valued simply for who we are.
