Holy Rood House is a community of hospitality, welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds as ‘The Place to turn to’ at a time of need, retreat or respite. As well as professional, therapeutic support, or programmed events, our door is open for rest and relaxation, care for carers, spiritual retreat and accompaniment, training, study and sabbaticals, or for a holiday.
We provide safer space for those of us who are finding life unsafe, looking at what makes us unwell and addressing issues of justice.
Services
Our range of services includes our Counselling and Psychotherapy Service, pastoral care, chaplaincy and spirituality, complementary therapies, education, creative arts and nature. We provide home-cooking (unless Covid restrictions apply), with produce from our gardens.
Within a gentle Christian ethos, our community works on the margins of society, giving voice to the voiceless, and empowerment for healing and change.
Facilities
Our facilities include 16 comfortable bedrooms, including an access and carers room on the ground floor, healing gardens with animals and labyrinth, a therapeutic and theological library, study and conference rooms, creative arts centre and chapel space.
A little about us
Our continual therapeutic and theological exploration, underpins the work of the Charity. The Centre for the Study of Theology of Health is an important part of our ministry, working at the interface of psychology, arts, science, theology, ecology and health. We hold regular study events, lectures and a yearly summer school, and the exhibitions in our gallery link to our upholding of the importance of creativity. We encourage research, reflection and discussion.
Our model of well-being offers caring for one another, and the planet; with the aim of moving towards a more just and healthy world.
